July is roaring in with a bang!

Not much good is happening here the past week or so.

On Monday, June 30th, 8 F1 tornadoes roared thru the Chicagoland area.  None hit where I live, but, we did lose power for 4 hours.  Others lost power for days (thru Friday, I last heard).

We did have a nice parade on the 4th of July.  I drove the barbershop chorus in the parade again (sorry, no pictures).

In the wee hours of Sunday morning, hubby got an extreme muscle cramp in his thigh (very strange place to get a leg cramp), and the pain was so bad that he passed out.  He hit the door in our powder room so hard, that it left a hole in the wall, well over 1/4" deep.  We spent until Monday evening in the hospital, having tests done to make sure he is fine.  The cardiologist said he 'rocked' his exercise stress test, and cleared him completely.

When we finally got home Monday evening, we found that our a/c was out.  I'm waiting for the repairman now (and missing a funeral because of it).

NOT a good start to the month!

I did get the last of the binding stitched down on the wedding quilt (and read some books) while waiting at the hospital.

I hope your month has started off MUCH better than our month has.

  1. A lot of drama, but so glad to hear you weren't severly touched by the storms. They stormed across NY soon after and then we got rocked by the Huricane left overs - luckily just some limbs down, but scarey business.

  2. Oh Cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear that. It does seem that bad things happen in 3s, and that seems to be 3 things to me... so maybe you are in the clear for a while. We can hope. Sounds like Hubby is A-OK.
Keep happy thoughts - we will keep some for you too.
    Hugs

  5. Ouch - your month hasn't been the best so far. Sure hope that changes fast! We also did not have damage June 30 but had 7 tornadoes in the area. Our power was out for about 15 hours - it made for an interesting night/day since we had two young grandsons here. Glad hubby is ok - hope he stays that way! Take care! ~Jeanne

  8. I'm so sorry to hear about the unfortunate events that have kicked off July for you. We were fortunate to not lose power during the storms on the 30th, though it threatened to go out on multiple occasions that night. The winds certainly were powerful, enough to make us camp out in the safety of the basement. However, we did get some uninvited water in the basement from the heavy rains. And I am so relieved to read that your husband is okay! What a scary night that must have been! Hopefully the rest of the month will be more enjoyable for you both!
