NOW it's finished! Spiderweb quilt top *Updated at the end

Spiderweb quilt with string border
NOW it is finished.  I decided that the quilt from the last post, needed another border to finish it.  Here it is!  I made the string border and attached it and mitered the corners last night.  I think I'm going to enter this quilt top in the Quilting Gallery's Scrappy Quilt contest.  Now to see if it can be quilted in time to present it to a special soldier (see last post) for Quilts of Valor.  Thanks to Marilyn for the idea to add Sawtooth stars to the sashing and cornerstones.  Our soldiers are real 'STARS' themselves.  Thanks soldiers for all that you do to keep us free!

mitered border and sawtooth stars around block
This photo shows a close-up of the mitered border and the sawtooth stars for the cornerstones.  I cut out 196 tiny squares to add to the sashing strips to turn the cornerstones into sawtooth stars.  I like mitered borders, and thought that they would look best with the way the stars in the blocks go together.  The blocks look 'mitered', but, they aren't.

For the people who pray, please pray for the people of Grape Creek, TX.  My best friend and her family, plus her sister's family have wild fires burning near their homes.  If the winds change, they may have to evacuate.  There are wind gusts up to 45mph and only 12% humidity, and they are several inches behind in rain for the year.   Thanks for the prayers.

  10. That's a great quilt, Cheryl. Please give my thanks to the special soldier who will receive it. Army? The colors look like Army colors! (My son recently retired from the Army, I'm so proud of him!)
