My friend Carole and I went to the Fiber Arts Show at the Chicago Botanic Garden on Friday. Carole has been many times, but this was my first time to attend this show. If you look online, you can find photos of many years of previous shows.
The Fiber Arts show has quilts, and all kinds of other fiber arts, so, be prepared to see some interesting fiber items. Many of the quilts and fiber arts were for sale.
This first one is paper pieced. I do lots of paper piecing, but the curves give me pause. One of these days a quilt store near me will offer a class, and I'll take it. I want the class so that I can figure out how to put all the pieces together.
There were several cabinets with different fiber arts inside.

The sign said that the stitching on this quilt was Sashiko, but I've always called it big stitch quilting. It is the type of hand quilting I usually do.

The next one is an unusual dinosaur quilt.

This jacket has photos outside and inside.
The fiber artist made 2 matching hats, one is inside out and one is right side out, to show how she made it. I loved the hats and also the fiber that they were sitting on.

They had some challenge quilts using the game 'Clue'.
There was a style show the day we attended. All of the garments were for sale. Some of the prices were affordable, but some were $1000 and up.
The first photos were of sisters modeling vests. The older sister made both vests, and they were for sale in their mother's booth.
This next coat was made from a surplus WWII blanket. It was HEAVY!
This lady wasn't part of the show, but she made this dress. She calls it her 4 Season dress, made from tablecloths. She asked me to include her contact info.
A few more quilts and fiber arts...
Another Storm at Sea quilt.
The last of the fiber arts (check out the shoes).
They had a silent auction at the show. Some of the items had a 'buy now' price, and I found these two project bags. A lady in one of my guilds has made one of these bags, and mentioned that the embroidery wasn't as simple as she expected, and that she didn't like the exposed threads inside the bags. Well, these bags were lined with fleece, so no exposed threads, and both bags cost me a total of $30.
