I love to go to the Prairie Fest Quilt Show in Oswego, IL. It is every Father's Day weekend. I've had quilts shown in this show in the past, and, I know several of the ladies (The Quilter's Dozen) who run the show for the Little White School Museum.
Since space is small at this show, they display several quilts on chairs
The Quilter's Dozen is a hand quilting group. Here is a picture of the quilt that they are currently working on.
After I left this quilt show, I headed over to Oswego Presbyterian Church, to see the Ugly Fabric Quilt Challenge. This is the first year for the Ugly Fabric Quilt Challenge. Below are pictures of the rules.
Again, I know at least 4 of the ladies who participated in this challenge. Not all of the participants are quilters. Each quilt is followed by a picture of the UGLY fabric that was given to them. Some of the fabrics are uglier than other fabrics.
It was a fun, quilt morning! I hope your weekend is starting off quilty, too!
this was made by one of the members, but, they didn't have anything on the quilt to show who made it |

Love the quilt by Ellen Bass. But also the geese, and the ugly fabric. Wow, the whale one is fabulous. So much creativity.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts; I like the feel of a more local quilt show. Love the flying gees quilt! I remember my first ever quilt teacher (it was an American lady when we lived in Taiwan years ago) said to always use some "ugly" fabric as it makes the whole mix more interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the show! I was not up to attend 2 local shows this year and miss going. So I love seeing what others do. Some great quilts and creativity here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, I like quilt shows that have "doable" quilts and these are lovely. I love that tiny nine patch.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the wonderful eye candy! It must have taken quite a while for you to write this post-it's appreciated!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quilt show! I love scrap quilts and Scrappy Patches is one I might have to try. I can envision using the Binding Tool that I don't use for bindings as my template: https://d2v8skpstyl8bm.cloudfront.net/products/images/product/d/1/d182933e-81f9-30c8-ac6a-fb24e553a2bc.jpg
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun show - lots of variety! The Ugly Fabric Challenge was a hoot!
