2026 Missouri TOGA Day Three

Saturday was the last day of the TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy).  Saturday is always a very busy day at the TOGA!

We started with Pamela teaching Freezer Paper Foundation Paper Piecing.

Barb showed us how to make bunting, and also showed us several of the ones that she has made.

Lunch is important at the TOGA.  On Friday, ladies make a potato & salad bar, then we have the leftovers for lunch on Saturday.  YUM!

I did a triple demo (sorry, I can't take photos of myself).  I showed how to debone a shirt, gave examples of different Memory quilt ideas and showed lots of pieced backings.

We have an exchange  every year.  This year, we made and exchanged items for our sewing rooms.  I made a pin cushion thread catcher (tutorial at this link).  I got a sewing machine cover.

We had show-n-tell.  People brought quilts that they had acquired or made in the last year. Ruth showed us a lovely patriotic quilt.

We have a table raffle (donated sewing themed items) to help pay for the TOGA each year.  We also raffle off the quilt.   Dorise won this years quilt.

Here are some other photos from Saturday...

We end the TOGA with dinner at the local BBQ joint.  Here is one of the tables.

I can't wait till next years TOGA!!!!!!

2026 Missouri TOGA Day TWO

Friday was a busy day at the TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy).  We had several demo's on Friday, along with some fun games.

We started with some 'Get to know you' games.

Jo Ann gave a tutorial on the connector blocks for next years raffle quilt (patriotic).

These are the blocks we've collected so far...

This is the raffle quilt for this year. It is a butterfly quilt.

Debbie taught us how to make a little coin purse with separate pockets for different coins.

Dorise taught us how to make a sun visor for your glasses.

Jackie showed us how to make pin cushions using salt cellars.  She also provided the salt cellars and fabrics.  She also showed us how to make decorative pins for our pin cushions (and provided everything for that, too).

Here is mine and Sarah's.

Liz did a double demo.  She taught us how to make popsicle holders and also water bottle openers.

I went to the dollar store that night and bought more dish mats and wound up making 42 popsicle holders for gifts.

Here are more photos from Friday.

We also have a sewing machine 'hospital' at the TOGA.  Floyd is the doctor, and Kenneth helped.

On to Day Three...

2026 Missouri TOGA Day One

I went to the Missouri TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy) this past weekend.  This is our 8th year. This is a three day event, so I'll break it into days to post (lots of photos).

The first day was Thursday.  We set up, then there is a class all afternoon on Thursdays.  Ruth taught EPP (English Paper Piecing).  Boy oh boy, did Ruth go above and beyond!

Ruth has done LOTS of EPP quilts.  Here are just a few that I took photos of.

Ruth did a wonderful job teaching EPP.  Ruth made up kits for the class members.  The kits had magnets & clips to hold the Hexagon's, and she also included her favorite needles, pins, etc.   Ruth made everyone their own kits that included needle books and a thread catcher.  Here is mine.

Here are Barb's EPP pieces (just started, not finished)

Here is the class working on their EPP flowers.

I didn't make a Hexagon flower.  Instead, I sat at the Welcome desk and worked on my own hexie project. You can see my new needle kit from Ruth.  Did I mention that Ruth hand made EVERYONE needle kits and pop-up thread catchers?!?!?  THANKS RUTH!!!!

We went to Wingo's in Mansfield for supper that evening.  I really loved my 2 scoops of their ice cream!

On to day TWO.......
