A Quilt Shop, and giving some quilts

Hubby and I are vacation.  On our way to our first destination, we found a nice quilt shop in West Plains, Missouri.  Six Sisters Mercantile is a really nice shop.

Not only do they have a nice selection of fabrics, notions, etc. but they also have several vintage sewing machines on display.

Just a few of the vintage machines

They had a cute sitting area in the shop.

I liked the quilted chair

They also had several Singer Featherweights for sale.  These are just a few of them.

I was good and only bought a piece of backing fabric and an embroidery pattern.

My family reunion was supposed to be in Mountain View, Arkansas this week (cancelled due to Covid).  We decided to go there anyways.  Hubby hiked a couple of days while I visited a few of the shops and sewed in our cabin.  Unfortunately, both quilt shops closed since we were there last, 2 years ago.

Hubby hiked overnight one night, and while he was gone, I had a guest for dinner.

The kitty had ham, cheese and a bowl of milk while I ate my supper.  Then she snuggled up to my feet while I read a book.  Such a sweet kitty!  She came back with a friend another night.

Mountain View is known for picking on the square.  Musicians gather and pick in groups most nights (weather permitting).  We walked to the square to listen.

We drove to Texas to see our parents.  It's been over a year since we saw them.  We were supposed to see them and  attend a wedding and graduation back in May, but everything got cancelled (Covid again).  This trip had already been planned for hubby's 40th high school reunion (another Covid cancellation), but we came anyways.

We got to see my niece and her son, Miller.  Miller has Leigh's disease and can't walk or talk.

I got to give Miller his Mickey Mouse quilt.  Miller LOVES Mickey Mouse!

*If you want to know more about Miller's journey, let me know and I'll send you to his mother's blog (not that many posts).

I also got to give Rene' her Dogs in Sweater's graduation quilt.  It was Rene's graduation that got cancelled back in May.

The rest of the week will be filled with family.

Three more Harry Potter: Project of Doom blocks finished

I finished three more sets (of two) Project of Doom blocks.  The green in the Monster book of Monsters doesn't photograph well.  It is really a rich green with metallic. It looks more like green leather in person (like described in the book).  I've been trying to find a fabric that looks like green leather for several years now, for this block.  You can find every shade of brown that looks like leather, but nothing that looks like green leather (not even any real green leather to use).  I've even tried dying fabrics with green, but they just didn't work.  This is one of the reasons I didn't get back to making blocks for this quilt for so long.

Riddle's Diary #15

I also finished 2 sets of blocks for the Fall Basic exchange with Treadle On.  The photo only shows one each of the blocks.

I've finished the binding and washed the Mickey Mouse quilt, but I haven't taken any photos.  I found out earlier this week that I get to present the quilt in person next Sunday.  Hopefully my niece will let me post a photo of Miller with his quilt.

Slow Stitching today

I'm slow stitching today.  Usually I do my slow stitching in the mornings during the week, while at work (I get about an hour each day that I can stitch at work, nice huh?)

Well, I finished the quilting on the Mickey Mouse quilt, and attached the binding this morning.

I'm stitching the binding down on this quilt.

I also attached the binding to the Dogs in Sweaters quilt.

Isn't the quilting on this quilt great!?!  Shawn did a great job for me.
