Holiday Party!

Today was my larger quilt guild's Holiday party.  We always have the Holiday party in January, since everyone is so busy in December.

My friend, Marilyn and I hosted the Holiday party this year.  We also hosted one of the tables at the party.  Our theme this year was 'songs'.  You chose a song, then decorated your table to go with the song.  We chose Frosty the Snowman.  Everyone who sat at our table went home with a Frosty the Snowman placemat, a snowman mug rug, and a snowman mug.  They also got a set of snowman coloring pages and colored pencils.  Several of them were starting on the coloring pages before lunch.

The next table used the song 'Easter Parade'. There was even an Easter bonnet as the centerpiece.  Everyone at the table went home with a lovely pin cushion and hand done pins.

One Bee hosted a table, and used 'Suzy Snowflake' as their song.  They used the centerpiece as a prize.

The next table was 'Winter Wonderland'.

There was a table with an Angel theme (didn't get the song title).

lots of cute Angels for centerpieces (several ladies got one of these)

everyone had Angel cookies on their plates, too
Feliz Navidad was another song used.  OOPS!  Bad me, I didn't get pictures of this table.  It was really cute, too. Sorry Carol!

I did get Marion's 'Under the Sea' table.

Lynn used 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road' for her theme.

The last table was 'Coat of Many Colors'.

We had 59 ladies at the party.
And lots of yummy food, too!
There were prizes, for winning the games we played.
almost 60 sets of 3 neutral fat quarters for prizes
And we had fun with everyone trying to guess how many 2.5" squares were in 2 different jars.  534 squares in one jar, over 400 in the other jar.

We chose these prizes, since Bonnie Hunter is coming to our guild in May, and teaching 3 different classes.  EVERYONE needs neutrals for her quilts!  And who can't use some 2.5" squares for several of Bonnie's patterns?

Our favorite game was the scavenger hunt.  You couldn't leave your table (make sure your purses are at your tables ladies) and you got 1 piece of paper, that you could use to 'make/draw' an item you didn't have.  The real items got 2 points, the 'fake' items got 1 point.  Below is the list of items.  Everyone at each table worked together to 'get' all the items.

People were very 'creative' with some of the items.  (One table tried to get away with a spoon, as a 'low calorie' lollipop).

Hope you enjoyed our Holiday party!  We sure did!

  5. Cheryl, what fun this must have been! All the tables are lovely; I bet it was a treat to go around and see how each lady how decorated her space! When my daughter was in college, they had dinner events where they hosted a table in their freshman and junior years, and they decorated it around a theme. Those were such fun! :)

  8. Love the snowmen table setting! They are a winter favorite along with angels and nativity sets. I just bought some Olaf fabric for an apron. He looks like he is made of marshmallows, one of my junk food indulgences.
