Welcome to the
Blog Hop! & Giveaway!
Since this is Wednesday, you are at Cheryl's Teapots 2 Quilting!
First, I have to apologize about the pictures. Picasa is being difficult, and not syncing my pictures. I've tried over and over (and over). I'm having to cut and paste these pictures directly from my computer, and I can't edit them.
I started my project later than everyone else, since I was out of town. I couldn't even download the ebook on to my laptop, since it is ancient, and doesn't like downloads (yes, it needs to be updated, but, last time I tried that, I lost access to my emails for over a week, while on a trip). I'm tech UN-savvy.
I finally downloaded the ebook on Jan 21st, and decided on a project. I don't usually use precuts, but, I did have a few that I've collected.
I've only made something with precuts 2 other times. A quilt for my niece, using charm squares (sorry, no picture) and a table runner.
Well, I chose one of my jelly rolls, and, a local quilt store (Sewing, Etc) cut me a black jelly roll. (Thanks Kelly)!
Spritely is the pattern I chose to make (it was a hard decision, since there are so many great patterns in the book).
This is a quick quilt to stitch together. I'll happily make this quilt again.
This quilt finishes at 60" x 70", and uses 30 blocks.
If you only used 12 of the blocks (3 across x 4 down) it would make a great baby quilt (finishing at 36" x 48"). I'm thinking of using this pattern for baby quilts soon.
You have from Today, February 1st, until Saturday, February 4th to participate.
Good Luck! It's a great book!

ReplyDeleteI like FQs because I prefer to prewash my fabric.
ReplyDeleteI like FQs best but the cost of the big bundles can be high, so I most often buy layer cakes. The 10" squares are big enough that I can do lots of different things with them.

DeleteI really like the black background on your quilt. It makes the bright colours sparkle. My favourite precut is the layer cake as it is quick and easy to make into charm packs and mini charms. Depending on the length of strips needed it can also be used in a jelly roll pattern.

ReplyDeleteI am a blog follower already!
ReplyDeletegreat quilt and it was a fun book to look at and make something with
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, if I am tempted to buy a precut, it will be a Jelly Roll. I need to find a Jelly Roll with 40 different greens so I can make the scrappy Irish Chain in Eleanor Burns' book: https://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/books_display.asp?i=1914 for my daughter. I have tried starting a shoe box of just green strips but just don't use enough to collect 40 at a very fast pace.
ReplyDeleteI like this quilt. I use fat quarters the most but like charm squares too. I am a follower for over a year skjack1347@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite precut is Layer Cakes followed by Jelly Rolls. From a layer cake I can get many different size squares to mix and match.
