2017 Michigan TOGA

If you are looking for the 12 Days of Christmas in July blog hop post, it is here

Saturday was the Michigan TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy).   This is the 4th time I've been able to attend.  What a great group!  This gathering has been held at Sharon's home for the past 10 years.  What a great collection Sharon has.  You can see more of it on this post, from 2014.  There are more posts from 2015 and 2016, too.

I took a few pictures of some of Sharon's stuff.  I loved these little sewing britches.

If you can't read the picture, is says 'Put your thimble in my pocket,  Put your needle in my leg.  Put your thread inside my rompers, And hang me on a peg.'

Of course, there were some sewing machines.....

Sharon has lots of toy machines.  This one is new to her collection.

There were many machines set up in the garage, and all of them were for sale.

This is the machine that I wish I could have come home with, but, I just don't have the room for it.  It is a Howe treadle.

I forgot to take pictures of our UGLY fabric projects (sorry), but, I did get the blocks that were exchanged.  We only had a few ladies who exchanged blocks this time.  Sorry, I didn't take a picture of myself.

There were others there, too.

There were several husbands there, too.

We decided to take some pictures before everyone else left.  Some had already gone before this.

It was a fun TOGA!

  1. Those machines are amazing, I really like the ones that curve have that curve, they look like they have plenty of sewing room.

  9. I've always wanted to go to the one in Nashville each summer, haven't made it yet. It's a really big group. Looks like if I want another machine, I should come to Sharon's! I have one Singer handcrank. =) I really want a working treadle, but one hasn't come my way yet. Sharon must devote a large room to her machines! Thanks for sharing those pics.

  10. I'm so glad those machines are being cared for and loved! I learned how to sew on a treadle when I was about 8. I used to make doll clothes and do stay stitching for my mom, who made almost all our dresses.

  13. WOW... you are TO person, so am I. I've been to TOGAs in NC, TN, and FL, each one is so much fun. The folks are wonderful. Thank for the photos of dreamy machines. I have two of my treadles at local quilt shops so that i can use them for classes and doing demos during the Atlanta Shop Hop... I've been spreading the word on the delights of a people powered machine. Thank you for the Christmas ideas. I'm enjoying this hop even though I'm doing it days later.
