2023 Missouri TOGA

This past weekend was the 6th Missouri TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy).  We were missing a few people, but we had lots of fun!  On Thursday, we set up and I taught how to make a Ruler bag (thanks for the pattern Marilyn).

People were turning in blocks for next year's raffle quilt (Sewing Notions).  I finished my blocks a few weeks ago (you can see mine here).

Joann had a game to make more sewing notions themed blocks.  Several people participated.

Instead of making more blocks (I'd already turned in a dozen blocks), I used a Jelly roll I won to make a Jelly Roll Race quilt that will be used as the 'thread' of s spool of thread for the back of the notions quilt.

I brought a sewing machine that I needed help with, and it took all 3 days to get it up and stitching.  The presser bar was stuck, and once we got it moving, we changed it from a back clamp to a side clamp presser bar.  Tension issues were next, but we got it working, thank goodness.  Don, Roger, Maria and Sarah all helped me with this machine.  This machine is for a friend of mine (Sharon).

On Friday, we played a Fat Quarter game.  Everyone came home with at least as many Fat Quarters and they came with, but many came home with several extra Fat Quarters.

Of course, we all had to eat!  Esther, with her sisters help, made us a baked potato bar on Friday.  We ate the leftovers for lunch on Saturday.  Yum!

Liz did a demo on how to make a card holder on Friday.  I got called away to work on the sewing machine, so I didn't get to make one yet.

I also taught how to make small project boards, both with a sewing machine, and by ironing on and gluing the binding on.

Several of us met for supper after the TOGA day ended.  Catfish, yum!

On Saturday, we had more demo's and our apron exchange.  I didn't have time to make an apron (I've been out of town too much this year) but Barb made one for me so that I could participate.  We had a blast with the apron exchange.  Each apron could be 'stolen' 3 times before it found it's 'forever' home.  Quite a few of the aprons were stolen over and over.  Poor Liz had every apron she picked stolen from her.  The photos below show most of the aprons with the 1st owners (not who got to keep the apron in the end).

We had show-n-tell next.  I only have a few photos of show-n-tell.

We ended the day with our raffle table (lots of goodies to choose from) and the quilt raffle.

Of course, we had to meet up again for supper before the day was over.  Hucklebucks BBQ is always the Saturday night meal.

I'm looking forward to next year's TOGA!
