2020 Finishes

I don't have a lot of finishes to show this year.  I made lots of blocks for block exchanges, and also for other quilts, but none of those are in completed quilts yet.  I'm NOT showing all the masks I made.

Here are the quilts I finished in 2020:

I made 6 of these Parcheesi/Ludo board games

for my inlaws who couldn't find toilet paper in March

1st baby quilt

2nd baby quilt

3rd baby quilt

4th baby quilt

I also made some other things in 2020:

covered chair

Ukulele for my grandkids

2nd Ukulele

3rd & 4th Ukulele's

mug rug

pin cushions

more pin cushions

reversible apron for an exchange

other side of reversible apron

matching pot holders

crazy hat for a guild meeting

fabric book

Not too bad a showing.  I know many people got lots done during 2020, but I still had to go into work every day, so I didn't have any 'extra' time for stitching.

Last Finish of the Year

I finished my grandson's quilt.  This pattern is Kelli Fannin's Wheel Life.  I call it Hot Wheels.

Hot Wheels quilt

The fabric I bought for the backing was a few inches narrower than the quilt top.  I needed to widen it.  Beth thought I should add a road to the quilt.  Well,  I didn't want a road running down the middle of the quilt back.  Boring!  I decided to add a road diagonally instead.  Positioning the road so that it lined up the same, top and bottom, took some patience (something I'm not known for according to hubby ; ).

The only quilting I do is straight line quilting.  I didn't want lots of quilting.

I decided to do faux piping binding.

All that is left is for me to wash the quilt, then wrap it.  My grandson (and his sister and parents) will be arriving early Saturday morning.  I finished this just in time.

Here is a funny Christmas photo for you.  This is my dog, in the car our neighbors gave us for the grandkids to use.

Merry Christmas!

Quilt top Finished

On Saturday and Sunday I took this...

quilt all cut up

and turned it into this!

This pattern is Kelli Fannin's Wheel Life.  I did a small change to her pattern.  I added cut and flip corners to the inside of each wheel to make the tires look more rounded.

I could have had this quilt top done in a day, but I had other things to do around the house.  It was a fun and quick pattern to stitch.  I highly recommend Kelli's patterns.  Right now Kelli is doing a National Day scrap quilt, designing different patterns for many of the National Day celebrations.

I had lots of leftover bonus HST's from this pattern.  Not sure what I'll do with them yet.  I'll add them to my collection.

bonus HST's

Lots more Christmas decorating needs to happen here before I can baste and quilt this quilt (the dining room table is full of decorations, so no place to baste).  Hopefully I can baste this next weekend.  I still need to figure out what I'm going to do about the backing, since the race track fabric I bought for the back is a tiny bit more narrow than the quilt top.  I'm thinking of adding a strip of 'Disney Cars' fabric down one side.  I'm also thinking of using faux piping binding on this quilt.

Block Exchanges and Face Masks

I participated in two more block exchanges with my Treadle On group.  I only made two sets of blocks for the Fall Basic exchange (Rail Fence blocks).  Here are the blocks I got back.

Fall Basic Rail Fence blocks

For the Spool block exchange, I made 4 sets of blocks (8 blocks per set).  Here are the blocks I got back.

Spool blocks, first 2 sets

Spool blocks, 2nd 2 sets

I also made 21 face masks today.  My son, his wife and my granddaughter all need face masks.  I also made some for Christmas.  The Christmas face masks are all reversible.  They have red snowmen on the other side.  I can use them all winter.

Red Snowmen fabric is on the reverse side of all the Christmas masks

Harry Potter masks

My granddaughter loves Emma from the Wiggles.  I made her some special 'Emma' face masks.  I added yellow polka dot ribbon to the top of each mask (easier for a 2 year old to tell which side goes up) and these masks also have adjusters for the elastic.

Now some random Holiday photos.  First, our Thanksgiving meal, then our Christmas tree (which we just decorated).

I have a lot of Christmas decorating left to do.  We haven't done much Christmas decorating the past few years.  It will be fun to have lots of decorations out this year.

Embroidery Done on Four More blocks

I've been doing deep cleaning in my house, so I don't have much to show for the past week or so.  I did finish the embroidery on 4 more Harry Potter: Project of Doom blocks.

Week #14, Flying With the Cannons and Rune Dictionary

both blocks

Week #15 Magick Most Evile (and Riddle's Diary, no title)

both blocks

If everything works out, I'll be participating in a virtual sew-in tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have a quilt top finished by the end of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oops! More Harry Potter and the Project of Doom blocks

I finished these blocks over a week ago but forgot to post them.

Week #19, Hogwarts Shield

both blocks

Week #20 Candlestick

both blocks

Week #21 Books and part of Sorting Hat

both blocks

Week #22 The Sorting Hat

both blocks

These blocks still need the embroidery done (except the Sorting Hat).  Only 8 more block sets left to make.

I'm pausing on making more of these blocks, since I have a few other things to make that have deadlines.  One is a baby quilt for our newest grandbaby that is due in late April.  I prepped all of the Half Square Triangle blocks for this quilt on Saturday.

HST's waiting to be stitched

This is the quilt that I'll be making.

I also cut out our grandson's quilt that will be his Christmas present, but I didn't get any photos of it.  I'm making Kelli Fannin's Matchbox Car quilt called Wheel Life.
