Prairie Fest Quilt Show 2023

 Yesterday I went to the Prairie Fest Quilt Show.  I try to go every year (lots of posts on my blog from previous years).  This year I put 5 of my quilts in the show.  Here are previous photos of the quilts I had in the show (I didn't take photos of my quilts this time).

I forgot to take a photo of their raffle quilt this time.  Lovely hand quilting on it.  The quilt show is hosted by The Quilter's Dozen, a group of hand quilting ladies.  Many of these quilts were hand quilted.

They also have a few display cases showing off sewing related items.

As usual, it was a nice show.  

My large quilt guild meeting was Thursday night.  Back in 2019, Kevin Huffman (Kevin the Quilter) came to both of my quilt guilds and taught classes (blog posts here and here).  At the large guild, he taught crumb piecing and Crumb Stars.  Eileen finally finished her Crumb Star quilt and showed it off at the guild meeting.

There are TWO different National Sewing Machine days, the other one is September 10th.  

I bought some fun shoes to celebrate the day.  These shoes are really comfortable!

My Family Reunion was this past weekend.  We raffled off the quilt I made, that family members signed at the last reunion.  Here are the winners in front of the quilt.

I had family members sign new quilt squares for the next Family Reunion quilt.  It was a fun weekend!  I love to go to Family Reunions!

This was posted to a vintage sewing machine forum.  I've seen it before, many times.  I thought you might like to see it, too.  Big difference between 'Then' and 'Now' for sewing advice.

I'm off to finish prepping for the Missouri TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy).  I'm teaching how to make Marilyn's Ruler Bag, and also how to make project boards and DIY Flying Geese trimmers.

Catching Up

 Wow, it's been over 7 weeks since I last posted.  I've been on two trips during that time, one planned, and one unplanned (family emergency).  I got some stitching done before I left on the first trip, and only a bit of stitching done between the two trips.  I did get some stitching done during the first trip, but those blocks aren't finished yet.

These blocks are from this book.  At least one of each of the blocks are for the Missouri TOGA (Treadle On Gathering & Academy) later this month.

We can't use buttons or beads for the blocks for the Missouri TOGA raffle quilt, so I needed to embroider some of the blocks.  Here are the embroidered blocks, finished.

Marilyn from my little quilt guild, Wego Quitin' taught a Ruler Bag class from a pattern she wrote.  I made one of these ruler bags about 10 years ago when she taught the class.

Marilyn taught the class again a few weeks ago.  She gave me permission to teach it, using her pattern, at the Missouri TOGA.  I made another ruler bag yesterday.

It always helps to have a refresher when you haven't made something in a very long time.  I keep my first ruler bag loaded all the time, ready for sew-in's, traveling, etc.  It's really handy!

I'll be in and out over the next 2 months.  My husband will be home, so he will really appreciate me cooking and cleaning when I'm finally home again.  Don't worry, he won't starve.  He's a good cook, and my son will also be here.  Not much stitching will be happening till late July.
